Is automated trading profitable?
Sometimes, and frequently not. Automation changes how decisions are made; it does not change the fact that trading is competitive and many participants lose. Any source presenting profitability as a property of the technology — rather than of a specific strategy, correctly sized — is misleading you. The right frame is return relative to drawdown across a sufficient sample of trades, not profit alone.
How does copy trading work technically?
When the source account opens a position, the platform detects it, calculates a size appropriate for your balance and settings, then sends an order to your broker. What are the risks of automated trading?
Loss is possible as in any trading, plus: market conditions changing enough to invalidate the system's logic, price gaps that jump through stop-loss levels, connectivity failures, and exposure accumulating when several positions open at once. The controls that limit these are position size, a daily loss limit, and a drawdown ceiling.
